Project Thailand

Wham! Prepare yourself for our 1st project in Thailand!

The arrival of the Southwest Monsoon marks the beginning of the surf season each year, which normally starts around the 1st of June, and lasts through November. Our humanitarian project will be during this “danger season”, when the vast majority of our preventive actions and rescues take place.

We’ll arrive and discover Phuket, a huge sprawling metropolis where the team will meet up. As ISLA volunteers arrive, we’ll be meeting our friends from the Surin-Bangtao Surf Life Saving Club, who will be transporting us to the beach. The ISLA team will spend the next day preparing to be split-up (but meeting up every evening) in order to teach two simultaneous Basic Open Water Courses. Some of our team members will also be providing lifeguard services during the course in order for our Thai lifeguards to participate in the ISLA training.

In Phuket Beach we’ll meet our ISLA course participants and learn about Thailand’s beaches, operational sites and lifeguarding resources to share ideas and techniques. Between training courses in Phuket, we’ll be sure to wander the fine sand beaches and journey through this remote town of beach resorts and lush natural park wonders. On our final days in Thailand, the team will take some time to explore the best kept secrets and sights of Phuket.

You will meet lifelong friends, experience the beauty of Thailand, and have the adventure of a life-time!
