ISLA is dedicated to saving lives from drowning by promoting a culture of water safety worldwide. Every year, 1.2 million people die from drowning—equivalent to one person every thirty seconds—and over 90% of these deaths occur in low to middle-income countries. This death toll is two-thirds that of malnutrition and more than half that of malaria. However, unlike these public health challenges, there have been no widespread prevention efforts targeting drowning—until now.
