“We are LIFEGUARD HELLAS.”
We are a big family of fully trained, equipped Greek lifeguards with strong bases. We share our passion for what we do and we serve it humbly.
Our decision, to go to Lesvos Island in order to assist with the tragic situation, which is taking place, was instantly accepted by our lifeguards …INSTANTLY, without second thoughts.
Our first team of 12 trained lifeguards kindly donated equipment, medical supplies and life saving materials arrived on the island of Mytilene on the 9th of November. It was our goal to have revolving teams operating 24 hrs a day on the island for as long as it was needed and our funds will allow.
We are proud of our Lifeguard Hellas Team, and also deeply thankful to all of you, people we may or may not have known who with their phone calls and messages, continue support us in Lesvos with financial assistance and equipment. We are happy that volunteers from all over the world have embraced our initiative.
We derive our strength from every single one of you, and every hour that passes we realize how extremely important it is to not forget our humanity. Whoever has seen, even just one of the refugee’s babies that did not make it their journey across the Aegean from Syria, through Turkey … He or she can understand.
Lifeguard Hellas is a non-governmental organization, we are not subsidized, we are just a lifeguard training center located in Athens, Greece whose team of volunteers, have been providing water rescue services in Lesvos to refugees.
