International Lifeguard Accreditation: “We don’t want you to claim ISLA… We want you to be ISLA!”

 

There’s a reason your organization wants to be internationally accredited by ISLA, it’s because we don’t cut corners and sacrifice safety standards in order to gain member organizations. That’s why ISLA Accreditation is recognized as the pinnacle of International Lifeguard training standards. Our Corporate Membership options ensure that any organization can achieve international lifeguard accreditation and proper oversight regardless of their economic resources. It’s our Mission!!!

 

FULL MEMBERSHIP (Voting Member) Full membership may be granted to lawfully incorporated corporations, national non-profit organisations, government bodies, and educational/research institutes that are a leader or provider of drowning prevention, lifesaving and/or lifesaving sport activities in its Nation. Subject to the payment of the corporate annual fee ($2,500 USD), designated representatives of Full Members have project project voting rights at ISLA General Assemblies.

 

Procedure
If your national lifesaving organisation wishes to join the International Surf Lifesaving Association, you are invited to submit the following in digital format to ISLA:

1. Payment in the amount of $2,500. If the application is not approved by ISLA, the membership fee will be reimbursed.
2. The application form duly completed (all questions must be answered).
3. A copy of the Statutes (Constitution/ ByLaws) of your organization.
4. A high resolution copy of your organisation’s logo (in colours and in black/white, formatted as JPEG, GIF, PSD or PNG).
5. No applications can be considered until the above three files and the payments of the fee are received.

Audit: On the first year of every five year membership cycle, each Full Member organization is given a in-person training course audit in which an ISLA Instructor visits their lifeguard training program to provide a consultation and evaluation to insure the organization is meeting ISLA International Lifeguard accreditation standards.

 

Scholarship: On the third and fifth year of every five year membership cycle, each Full Member organization is given one fully paid volunteer scholarship (airfare & project fees) so that a member of their organization can participate in a ISLA humanitarian project. Selected scholarship recipient is chosen by the Full Member and project location is selected by ISLA.

 

ISLA Administrative Consultant: All ISLA Full Members receive an expert consultant that they can utilize as a point of contact to assist their organization with advice on training, grants, leveraging government aid, growing their organization, etc .

 

ISLA Logo Use: Full Members are governed by the Corporate Membership Agreement. Approved organizations may identify themselves as an ISLA Full Member, receive the right to limited use of the ISLA logo with approval from their ISLA Administrative Consultant.

 

Affiliate Membership Fundraising Program: ISLA Full Members can offset the price of their yearly corporate membership fee by signing up individual members from their organization through our Affiliate Membership Fundraising Program. 100% of the individual membership fees collected from individual members within the Full Members organization is applied to the organization’s Full Membership dues.

 

Example:
Full Member Yearly Membership Fees = $2,500 USD
50 Junior Guard Memberships ($20 each) raised = $1,000
30 Professional Memberships ($50 each) raised = $1,500
Remaining Full Membership Fees due = $0

 

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP (Non-voting Member)
Associate membership may be granted to a lawfully incorporated national non-profit organisation that is a leader or provider of drowning prevention, aquatic lifesaving and/or lifesaving sport activities in the list of countries below. Annual corporate membership fees are waived as long as the Associate Member hosts an ISLA Humanitarian Project at least once every five years after ISLA International Lifeguard Accreditation is achieved.

 

ONLY the following nations are eligible for ISLA Associate Membership through our Request ISLA Services:

PARTNER MEMBERSHIP (Non-Voting Member)
Partnership status may be granted by the ISLA Board of Directors to a lawfully incorporated national non-profit organisation that is a leader or provider of drowning prevention, aquatic lifesaving and/or lifesaving sport activities in the list of countries above. Annual corporate membership fees are waived as long as the Partner Member is working towards ISLA International Lifeguard Accreditation, and hosts at least one ISLA humanitarian project every three years.
